How we pick
- We find the state your spot is in.
- If the state runs a free network, that is the pick for most people.
- If not, we show the service with the lowest published yearly price that lists your state, plus the cheapest local network. These are the same picks as our state pages.
- Then we measure from your exact spot to the nearest stations we can map: NOAA CORS (all states) and Trimble VRS Now (from Trimble's public station map).
Being listed for a state means the operator says it serves that state. It does not promise every spot in the state is covered, so always check the operator's own map before you pay.
Why distance matters
With a single base, RTK accuracy drops as you get farther away. NOAA suggests staying within about 12 miles. Network RTK (VRS) builds a virtual base near you, so it cares about the station spacing around you instead. See the baseline distance check.
