NTRIP setup: DJI Matrice 300 RTK
The M300 RTK has RTK built in. DJI's manual says you can put a dongle on the controller or join Wi-Fi in the app, then use Custom Network RTK in place of a base stationBase stationA GNSS receiver sitting still on a known spot. It figures out how wrong the satellite signals are right now and shares that as corrections.Full definition. Keep the controller on and online the whole time.
Steps
- Make sure the controller and drone are linked and the app is online (Wi-Fi or a dongle on the controller).
- Go to Camera View, open the settings menu and pick RTK.
- Set the RTK service type to Custom Network RTK.
- Fill in your provider's NTRIP host, portPortA number that tells your device which "door" on the caster server to use. For NTRIP it's often 2101.Full definition, account, password and mount pointMount pointOne specific correction stream on a caster, like one channel on a radio. Each one comes from a certain station or network setup.Full definition, then tap to set it.
- Wait for it to connect. In the RTK settings status table, the drone's positioning shows FIXFixThe best RTK status. The receiver has finished its math and your position is good to about an inch.Full definition when correctionsCorrectionsLive info from a base station about how far off the satellite signals are, so your rover can cancel out the error.Full definition are working.
- Turn RTK off when you aren't using it. DJI says the drone won't take off if RTK is on but no correction data is coming in.
What fix to expect
Your status should go from Single (no corrections) to Float (corrections coming in, still settling) to Fix (about an inch). Only start mapping or measuring on Fix. Fix vs float explained.
Common gotchas
- Wrong mount point or typo in the host: wrong mount point.
- Error 401 means the username or password was rejected: fix a 401.
- VRSVRSVirtual reference station. The network blends nearby stations to create a pretend base right next to you, which keeps the baseline short.Full definition mount points need your position sent to the network (GGAGGAA short message your rover sends with its rough location. VRS and nearest-station streams need it to know where you are.Full definition): VRS with no GGA.
- Stuck in floatFloatA middle RTK status. Corrections are coming in but the math isn't finished, so you're only good to about a foot.Full definition or old corrections: stuck in float · high age of corrections.
- Far from the nearest base adds error: baseline distance tool.
